We all have one goal: To get better
No matter what you’re struggling with, life can get better.
If anyone knows the struggle, it’s Brad Stayan. Brad had been suffering from depression and alcohol abuse since the age of 18. It wasn’t until August 6th of 2017 when he finally hit rock bottom. Recognizing the problems, Brad packed up and headed to Bowen Island on August 7th to get better for himself and his family.
Brad completed his treatment in October and moved back home. Brad attended AA meetings which he found incredibly helpful but there was still something missing in his life.
Brad’s wife Jill, has been a member of Club Sweat for over a year. One day, Brad came into the gym to pick her up after her workout. After meeting and talking with the team of coaches, Brad decided to join Club Sweat’s first ever 28-Day Transformation Challenge (transformation can mean so many things to so many different people). Soon after starting the challenge, something clicked! Exercise and the Club Sweat community was the missing part in Brad’s life.
Brad’s transformation has been incredible! Brad’s mentality has changed and he got his confidence back! The hour that Brad spends at the gym allows him to focus on himself while working out in a supportive, fun atmosphere with people he has now become friends with.
Since joining Club Sweat Brad’s cravings for his prior habits are few and far between. When he looks in the mirror he is now happy with the person staring back at him. Anyone who has suffered from depressions knows that’s a VERY VERY hard thing to say. Not only this, but work is a lot easier on his body and he has more energy to play with his beautiful daughter and amazing wife.
Brad has learned to take life one day at a time and make the most of it. People always ask him why he’s at Club Sweat 6 days per week. For Brad it’s easy. When he was in rehab he met some amazing people and it was the first time in his life that he didn’t feel alone in his battles. Everyone there had 1 goal, TO GET BETTER. When Brad steps through the doors of Club Sweat, he see’s and feels the same thing. People wanting to change their lives for the better. People that work their asses off. No one at the gym is better than anyone else and everyone has the same goal. TO GET BETTER!
Brad considers himself lucky to have such an amazing wife, family, and community, but it’s really all of us Club Sweatber’s who are the lucky ones. To be around someone so courageous and strong is incredible. Brad’s energy, passion and lust for life is infectious. Every time he steps through Club Sweat’s doors he makes everyone’s life better.
