“I had gained 50 pounds in 3 years without realizing it, I was unable to walk more than 3km without my feet hurting, I was slowly having to buy clothes that were bigger in size, and could not do the things I used to love because of my low level of fitness. I had fallen into a deep funk and I knew it was time for a change”
“When I started my job as a Police Call Taker, working shift work and 12-hour shifts, my lifestyle took a big turn and I stopped incorporating exercise into my daily life. I felt super lazy in terms of physical fitness and would often sleep until 2-3 pm still feeling absolutely exhausted. The most I did in the last 3 years prior to joining Club Sweat was going out for walks with my dog.”
Emily has had a big goal of policing for the past 5 years but knew this would not be possible without a lifestyle change. Emily’s secondary goal was to be fit enough to pass the physical test for policing but her primary goal was to become a generally healthier person. Even though Emily felt her goal of becoming healthier and being able to pass the police test was unrealistic, she realized she didn’t have much to lose and would at least try. “It was hard to see the long-term goal of how I would become fit after being inactive for so long.”
Emily’s partner was a member of Club Sweat 6 months prior to her contacting us but after seeing her partners before and after pictures and how much she benefited both physically and mentally from joining Club Sweat she decided to join too and she said “I’ve never made a better decision.”
“I absolutely love the way both Ash and Dan make me feel confident in myself and my goals. The amount of positive energy Ash and Dan bring is incredible, and going in for my class every session is something I always look forward to. Even when I go in feeling tired or unmotivated, I always come out feeling great because of how awesome they are.”
Since joining CS, Emily has overcome the challenges of negative self-talk and comparing herself to others through showing up to the sessions and doing things she never thought were possible which eventually led to her realizing that she CAN do it as long as she remains consistent and focused on her overall goal. “The longer I continued with Club Sweat the more I valued delayed gratification.”
Emily’s future is looking bright! “I used to look at my future in a more negative light because of the way I felt about myself but now I feel very positive and excited. I feel positive when thinking about my goals, and also feel excited about new ones! I love that my lifestyle change in the last year has opened up new doors and opportunities for me. I couldn’t say enough thank you’s to Ash and Dan to express how much they’ve changed my life for the better.”
