Having lost his mum to cancer 8-12 months prior to joining Club Sweat, Troy found himself tired, restless, grumpy, and at the heaviest weight he had ever been. During one of the hardest years of his life, Troy was no longer able to focus on himself as his days consisted of work, home, the hospital, rinse, and repeat. Caring for his mum became an excuse to not take care of himself but he really just wasn’t thinking of anything else at the time. His life was in a complete fog.
When he knew it was time to start taking care of himself again he wanted to seek out fitness facilities that were familiar to him and that he knew he liked. Something smaller, more intimate, staying away from any big box facility.
Having found Club Sweat on Instagram a few weeks prior to a weekend away with the wife, Troy was sitting in his Whistler hotel room and low and behold we had just started promoting our 28 Day Challenge and only had a few spots remaining. He immediately said “F it!” and picked up the phone to give us a call and the rest is history!
Troy’s upcoming trip to NYC was the perfect goal for him to get back in the gym, start taking care of himself again, lose some weight, and start feeling better not only physically, but mentally. “Although I think my mindset coming into your gym was, consistency and patients and just let the process happen over time, I wanted the results to happen overnight! I just wanted to lose the weight and be done so I could move on which I knew was not going to work for the long term. I had to remind myself this is a lifestyle”.
Through this journey, Troy’s view of himself has really changed. “Now that I’ve created consistency and healthy habits, I now know I can keep on track and get to where I want to be. I just feel good about myself overall and I no longer need to think, maybe I will start today or maybe next week or next month. I feel good and I feel there is way more to give in the gym and in turn that will only help me move forward in my everyday life.
Even though Troy is itching to get back into the gym, he has not skipped a beat since COVID hit. He could have easily fallen off track but was open to giving Virtual Training a try and turns out he quite likes it! 5-6 workouts a week, Troy is still killing it!!
