Val’s health and fitness journey started long before she ever stepped foot in Club Sweat Fitness (at that point Sweat Lab).
In the year 2000, Val made the choice to join Weight Watchers and her journey started. Val had 2 young daughters at home and wanted to be an example to them. Not only that, but Val was NOT going to be the “fat mom”. The mom who had to shop for plus-
sized clothes.
Anyone who knows Val knows that once she sets her mind to something, it’s over! After joining Weight Watchers, Val dropped 45lbs in 5 months… an absolute perfect rate of weight loss if we say so!
Don’t kid yourself though, the struggle was, and is, still real for Val. She tried weight watchers 10 years previously only to put the weight back on. Trust us that has not been her only struggle, keep reading…
In 2000 Val was on a mission, she just woke up one day and made it a personal challenge and 19 years later she still has all the weight off. Val had been training with another trainer at her small personal training studio on Ridgeway Ave when a new set of owners planned to take over in 2013.
Enter Dan…
Although Val wasn’t sure about having a young 26-year-old kid train her, she decided to give him a shot. She essentially inherited Dan, is glad she did and hasn’t given him up!
Since training with “trainer Dan” Val has maintained her weight and set new goals. But again, sometimes obstacles get in the way. 5 months ago, Val walked into Club Sweat after her vacation with a cane in hand. 3 tears of her meniscus later..cue rehab.
Val’s mindset at this point is just too strong though. The doctor told her for every pound of weight she loses it will take 4lbs of pressure off her knee. So, Val goes and loses 17lbs. The physio Val is working with gave her a laundry list of rehab drills to do every
day and Val does the drills. Dan scaled her back and really started focusing on movements that would strengthen her knee and surrounding muscles, Val has never missed a session and progresses every single week.
Val says “as long as Dan continues to train me, I feel I will have a good physical future.” Dan says, “as long as Val keeps coming in, he’s going to have a great mental future!” She’s always keeping him on his toes and learning from her weekly.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you Val! We have a feeling whatever it is,
you’re going to barrel through it on the way to your next vacation 🙂
