In September of 2020 Kai decided that if she wanted to achieve her goal of being in the best shape of her life before her 50th birthday, she better reach out for help, and she did just that.
Before joining Club Sweats group classes back in 2019 Kai was in one of her inactive states. She did not do much exercise or watch what she ate. “I had done some group personal training and kickboxing as well as went to the gym (sporadically), and was relatively active outdoors with hiking, skiing and running. However, these activities were not sustained, i.e. not every day, max 1-2 times a week, depending on the season, and I could go weeks without doing any of that.” Her days consisted of 8+ hours a day in front of a computer screen, maybe exercising once or twice a week which left her feeling very unfit and “soft”. Her clothes were starting to feel tight and she was overall just feeling “meh”. “I felt ok, but I knew I could feel so much better!”.
Kai’s goal of wanting to lose weight and get fit was super important to her as she had her 9-year-old, energetic boy later in life. She knew that if she wanted to keep up with him she needed to make some changes asap but she was struggling with time and discipline. “Time, because there are only so many hours in a day to get everything done. Discipline, because there is always something else I’d rather be doing.”
Kai knew that if she didn’t reach out and ask for help back in September, she would still be in the same place as she was just a few months ago. Instead of letting the COVID blues get the best of her, sending her in the opposite direction, she decided enough was enough! It was time to take advantage of Club Sweats, unlimited virtual classes, join our Semi-Personal Training in house service, and start working with Ash on her nutrition. “If there is anything positive to be said about COVID, this would be it!! The game-changer though, I think, is nutrition coaching/food journaling with Ash. Knowing myself, I knew I needed someone to help keep me accountable food-wise and provide feedback to see what tweaks can be made to ensure that I can still enjoy some guilty pleasures. The exercises are helping me get fitter and build muscles, but the food journaling helps to show off these new found muscles. LOL.”
Since Kai’s first weigh-in on Oct 6th, 2020 she has lost over 9lbs, 3% body fat and has gained 3 solid lbs of muscle! Its pretty safe to say Kai is looking fitter than EVER! And well on her way to the best shape of her life as she reaches the big 5-0!
“I can honestly say I am most proud of my almost visible abs 🙂 I’m happy with the way my body is changing/has changed, and that I am more mindful in what I eat. Seeing the changes in the way I feel and look encourages me to stay on track and keep my goal in sight. I am pleasantly surprised/pleased that I’ve gotten to where I have so far and I do not see this train stopping. I will continue to workout and focus on my nutrition as this is my new found CONSISTENT lifestyle, and I could not be happier!”
